Bell Fellowship for International Scholars is an opportunity targeted at international researchers for a two-year research and leadership training in the field of population and development, non-degree programme. The focal areas of interest are Social & Environmental Determinants of Population Health, Aging Societies, Workplace & Well-Being and Social & Family Demography

Sponsored by the Harvard Center for Population and Development, Bell Fellowship for International Scholars is named after the late David E. Bell, a Professor of Population Sciences and International Health, Emeritus, at Harvard School of Public Health. The Fellowship since inception has provided fellowships to over 80 postdoctoral candidates in population and development.

The Fellowship scheme will provide the researcher the opportunity for research and leadership opportunities and training in a two-year, non-degree programme in the field of population and development. The focal areas of interest are Social & Environmental Determinants of Population Health, Aging Societies, Workplace & Well-Being and Social & Family Demography.

Fellowship Value

Fellows have access to the full range of resources offered by Harvard University and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Each fellow is provided with shared office space at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies in Harvard Square, Cambridge, plus library privileges, health benefits, a research and travel budget, and

a stipend of $60,000 U.S. dollars per year (12 month appointment).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be an international scholar with a strong record of academic training and research.

Applicants must show strong leadership potential.

Applicants must have the commitment to carry out research in population and development work.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Applicants must have obtained a PhD certificate that will allow for enrollment in the fellowship.
